How to convert an image to JPG
- Click the box above, or drag and drop your images onto it. You can add many at once.
- Choose the JPG quality, the background color for transparent areas, and whether to shrink the images.
- Click Convert to JPG.
- Download each JPG, or download them all together as a ZIP.
Why convert to JPG?
- Smaller files: JPG compresses photos very well, so files are usually much smaller than PNG, which makes them faster to upload, email and load.
- Works everywhere: almost every website, app, printer and device accepts JPG.
- Easy to control: the quality setting lets you balance file size against sharpness.
Choosing the quality
For photos, 80 to 90 percent gives a very good picture at a much smaller size. Use 95 to 100 when quality matters most, and 50 to 70 when you need the smallest possible file, such as for web pages. Screenshots and graphics with sharp text can look slightly fuzzy at low quality, so use a higher setting for them, or keep them as PNG.
Is it safe and private?
Yes. Your images are converted entirely in your web browser on your own device, so they are never uploaded to a server or stored anywhere. The page loads one small open-source library for the ZIP download, so it needs an internet connection the first time.
Good to know
- JPG cannot be transparent. Transparent areas in PNG, WebP, GIF and SVG images are filled with the background color you choose, white by default.
- JPG is a lossy format, so some detail is lost each time an image is saved. Keep your original files, and avoid converting the same picture to JPG again and again.
- Animated GIFs are converted using only their first frame.
- HEIC photos from some iPhones are not supported by most browsers. Safari can usually open them, or you can share them as JPG from your phone first.
- You can convert up to 50 images and 100 MB in total at a time. Very large images are limited to 8,000 pixels on the long side so your browser stays stable. Your original files are never changed.
