Your images are converted in your browser and are never uploaded or stored.
How to convert an image to PNG
- Click the box above, or drag and drop your images onto it. You can add many at once.
- Choose whether to keep the original size or fit the images within a smaller size.
- Click Convert to PNG.
- Download each PNG, or download them all together as a ZIP.
Why convert to PNG?
- No quality loss when saving: PNG is a lossless format, so it can be saved and re-saved without the quality dropping the way it does with JPG.
- Transparency: PNG supports transparent backgrounds, which makes it a good format for logos, icons and graphics. Transparent areas in WebP, GIF and SVG images stay transparent.
- Wide support: PNG opens almost everywhere, including in documents, presentations and design tools.
Is it safe and private?
Yes. Your images are converted entirely in your web browser on your own device, so they are never uploaded to a server or stored anywhere. The page loads one small open-source library for the ZIP download, so it needs an internet connection the first time.
Good to know
- Converting a JPG to PNG does not make a picture sharper, because the detail lost in the JPG cannot come back. Photos also usually become much larger as PNG files.
- Animated GIFs are converted using only their first frame.
- HEIC photos from some iPhones are not supported by most browsers. Safari can usually open them, or you can share them as JPG from your phone first.
- Photos taken sideways on a phone are turned the right way up automatically in modern browsers.
- You can convert up to 50 images and 100 MB in total at a time. Very large images are limited to 8,000 pixels on the long side so your browser stays stable. Your original files are never changed.
