Good to know
- Weight and mass: in everyday use, “weight” and “mass” are used for the same thing. Strictly, these units measure mass, which does not change from place to place.
- Which ton? A metric ton, a US ton and a UK ton are three different sizes. Check which one your source means.
- Ounces: this tool uses the avoirdupois ounce, the one used for everyday goods. Troy ounces, used for gold and silver, are heavier and are not included.
- Rounding: results are shown to about 10 significant digits. Very large and very small results appear in scientific notation, such as 1.5e-9.
- Numbers: you can type commas, such as 1,250, and negative numbers are allowed.
