JSON Validator

Your JSON is checked in your browser and never uploaded or stored.

How to use the JSON validator

Paste your JSON into the box above. With “Validate as I type” turned on, the result updates automatically, or you can click Validate JSON at any time. If your JSON is correct, you will see a short summary of its structure. If it has a problem, the tool shows the line and column, points to the exact spot, and suggests a likely fix.

What does the validator check?

The validator checks your text against the official JSON syntax rules. It does not check what the data means, only that the structure is correct and can be read by any app or API that accepts JSON.

Common JSON errors and how to fix them

  • Trailing comma: remove the comma after the last item in an object or list.
  • Single quotes: replace single quotes with double quotes around keys and text.
  • Unquoted keys: wrap every key in double quotes.
  • Comments: remove them, because JSON does not allow comments.
  • Missing comma: add a comma between items in objects and lists.
  • Unclosed bracket or quote: make sure every opening bracket, brace and quote has a matching closing one.
