How to use the AI Text Summarizer

  1. Paste your article, essay, report or notes into the box, or click Try a sample.
  2. Use the slider to choose how long the summary should be, from about 10% to 60% of the original.
  3. Choose a paragraph or bullet points, then click Summarize.
  4. Read the summary, check the key topics, and use Copy summary to take it with you.

How it works

This tool uses extractive summarization. It reads your text, works out which words and ideas come up most, and scores every sentence by how well it represents them. It then keeps the highest-scoring sentences, drops near-duplicates, and puts them back in their original order. Sentences near the start of the text and of each paragraph get a small boost, as do sentences that signal a conclusion or key point.

Because the summary is built from your own sentences, it does not rewrite your text or add anything new. It can only repeat what you wrote.

Tips for better summaries

  • Use longer text. The tool needs at least three sentences, and works best on several paragraphs.
  • Try a few lengths. Shorter settings give the main points only, while longer settings keep more supporting detail.
  • Use clean text. Remove menus, ads and captions that were copied along with an article.
  • Check important details. Because sentences are selected, not rewritten, a pronoun such as “this” or “they” may refer to a sentence that was left out. Always read the summary before relying on it.
  • Language: it works best on English. Other languages work in a basic way, but results may be less accurate.

Is it private?

Yes. The summary is made entirely in your web browser. The text you paste is never uploaded, sent to any server or stored, and this tool needs no outside libraries.
