Difference
Your dates are used only in your browser. They are never sent anywhere or stored.
How to use the date difference calculator
- Pick the start date and the end date.
- Tick the box if the end date should count as a full day, for example for a hotel stay or a leave request that includes both the first and last day.
- Read the difference in years, months and days, plus the total days, weeks, weekdays and weekend days.
How is the difference worked out?
The calculator counts whole calendar years first, then whole months, then the days left over. For example, from 15 January 2026 to 20 March 2026 is 2 months and 5 days, which is 64 days in total. The total days, weeks, hours and minutes are measured on the same two dates. Weekdays are Monday to Friday.
Good to know
- The end date is not counted by default. From Monday to Tuesday is 1 day. Tick “Include the end date” to count both days, which makes it 2.
- Weekdays are not working days. Public holidays and local days off are not removed, so check your own calendar if you need exact working days.
- Hours and minutes are approximate. Only dates are used, so each day counts as 24 hours.
- Order does not matter. If the end date is earlier than the start date, the calculator swaps them and shows the gap between the two.
- Calendar: it uses the standard Gregorian calendar, including leap years.
Is it private?
Yes. The calculation happens entirely in your web browser. The dates you enter are never uploaded or stored, and this tool needs no outside libraries.
